Some children never get a second chance! "Gift a Scholarship for Christmas" and open the door to a new life and new possibilities for a child. Reaching Higher will be working with the girls in the homeless shelter at the Alternatives for Girls in Detroit. We are seeking scholarships for 20 homeless girls, ages 12 - 18. The program will be running winter 2010. "We shape tomorrow's world by what we teach our children today."

Reaching Higher was the proud recipient of $15,000 from the Art Van Furniture's Million Dollar Charity Challenge grant in 2009. There were over 550 applicants and 50 non-profits in Michigan were chosen. Reaching Higher will be using this generous donation to help inner-city girls move beyond the negative beliefs they have experienced and to make positive, life-altering choices for their futures. These girls are among the most abused, neglected, and poverty-stricken in Michigan.

Sue Dahlmann has published a new book called, "The Higher Way". Each student will receive one of these books upon completion of the Reaching Higher Course. This handbook will help remind the students of the lessons learned, and will help them daily.
